After the flea market (where I bought some brooches), Bride1 and I headed off to Coney Island to see the annual Mermaid Parade. A lot (hundreds) of people dress up in crazy mermaid costumes and form the parade, I think there is judging for a winner. They also had some old cars in the parade too.<\/p>\n

Because of the crush of people we didn’t really get a chance to walk around much and we were running out of time. So I guess I’ll have to go back another time.<\/p>\n

Then we went back to visit Dad’s friends in Brooklyn who live in a very cool 3 story attached house. We had a lovely dinner with them and their daughter L had just bought an ipad2 with the blue cover so it was fun to compare our toys. We could also hear a bag piper in the distance with was random, but fun.<\/p>\n

Then they took us down to a Celebrate Brooklyn concert in Prospect Park, which I mentioned in the last post. There was an awesome Latin music band playing and a lot of people dancing Salsa. Pretty good value for a $3 donation. When it started getting dark we headed back. It was lovely to have met more of Dad’s friends and I will try to look them up again if I am ever back in this part of the world.<\/p>\n

Today, Bride1 and I checked out some of Central Park. Considering my hotel is right next door it’s a bit weird that I didn’t do this earlier, but I feel that I have managed to get a lot of other stuff done instead. We visited the awesome Alice in Wonderland statue and walked around a bit, down through the zoo area.<\/p>\n

Then we headed down Fifth Avenue and looked at the shops as we went past. Then as we passed by we thought we would check out the H&M sale and one of my dreams came true! Robyn, one of my favorite singers, was performing. I think I shrieked in happiness and rushed to get close to take some pictures and video. So yeah, I totally <3 New York right now.\n\nUnfortunately I missed out on the deal where if you spent $50 at a certain time you got a free Robyn CD and could stand in line for her to autograph it. But we had more things to do and Bride1, while liking the music, wasn't (yet) a fan, so I figured we shouldn't hang around. Plus the queue was long by then.\n\nNext we visited Rockefeller Plaza and had a quick look at the lego store there. We had pizza for lunch and wandered down fifth until now, when I'm at the public library using the Wifi again, and Bride1 is checking out the 100 years exhibit. This really is a beautiful building.\n\nNext we are doing to visit High Line which is a park that has been built over an old train line, and I'm sure we will find something to do this evening.\n\nI'm going to miss the US. I've had a good time here, met some very cool people and I am really going to miss Bride1.
